England wird im Sommer 2024 Gastgeber der nächsten Weltmeisterschaft im Doppelaxtwerfen sein. Der Gastgeberverband Axemore Axe Throwing Club unter der Leitung von Ian Radmore wird die Hauptverantwortung für die Planung und Durchführung der Weltmeisterschaft in England übernehmen Gemeinde Thirsk im North Yorkshire County. Dies ist das erste Mal, dass die Veranstaltung im Vereinigten Königreich stattfindet.
Was es bedeutet, offizielle Hosting-Rechte zu erhalten, sagt Radmore: „Es bedeutet die Welt.“ Ich habe viele Doppelwerfer im Land ausgebildet und Veranstaltungen geleitet, bin aber fest davon überzeugt, dass die Ausrichtung der Weltmeisterschaft hier (in England) das Interesse am Vereinigten Königreich stärker steigern wird, als ich es auf andere Weise könnte. Die Weltmeisterschaft 2022 in Kanada war für alle, die dort waren, eine absolute Offenbarung. Ich werde es mein Leben lang nie vergessen und werde mein Bestes geben, um die Meisterschaft 2024 zu etwas ganz Besonderem zu machen.“
England will host the next World Championships in Double-bit Axe Throwing to be held in the summer of 2024. Host organization Axemore Axe Throwing Club, led by Ian Radmore, will be taking on the lead responsibility for planning and delivering the world championships in the community of Thirsk located in North Yorkshire county. This will be the first time the event will be held in the United Kingdom.
On what it means to be awarded official hosting rights, Radmore says „It means the world. I’ve taught many double-bit throwers in the country and ran events but truly believe that hosting the world championships here (in England) will expand the interest in the UK more than I could in any other way. The 2022 World Championships in Canada were an absolute revelation for everyone that was there. I will never forget it as long as I live and will do my best to make the 2024 championships something just as special.”
